Contrasting Wins Last Week
These two sides recorded very different kinds of wins on the opening day, even if both came by one-goal margins. Juve kicked off the Serie A season with a solid 1-0 victory over an underwhelming Parma, while a few hours later, Napoli and Fiorentina began a 4-3 ding-dong that saw Carlo Ancelotti’s men come out on top.
The Viola do possess some serious quality across their front line, but Napoli might have expected to fare better defensively having paired Kalidou Koulibaly and new signing Kostas Manolas together at the back.

Fiorentina both scored and conceded quite a few goals during pre-season and look set to be involved in a few thrillers this term.
However, while this fixture shouldn’t be quite as pulsating for the neutral as Napoli’s opener, it has produced plenty of excitement in recent times.

Napoli have finished either second or third in the league in each of the past four seasons, during which time they’ve gone W3-D1-L6 in head-to-heads with Juve across all tournaments.
However, although that is a better record than most teams can muster, Juve have rarely been toppled on home turf and going back to 2011/12 when their title-winning streak began, they’ve won eight of nine matches hosting Napoli at either the Delle Alpi or Juventus Stadium. At the latter venue alone, four of six meetings have seen Juventus to win and both teams to score land, with three of these finishing 3-1.
