TUESDAY TREBLE: JUVENTUS, MAN CITY AND REAL MADRID ALL TO WIN MAX BET £10
Recent Form
Juventus can’t afford to just rest players before Champions League encounters this season as they’re being given a stern domestic examination by Inter, who only trail them by the single point in Serie A.
However, the Old Lady are still purring along nicely with just three stalemates blemishing their record this term, as they’ve won each of their other 14 games across all competitions.
One of those three draws they’ve experienced came in the reverse of this fixture back in September, since which they’ve won 12 of 13 matches, but for Atletico a lack of output is hindering their campaign from really taking off.
Only twice in their last nine fixtures have they scored more than once, while going back into mid-September, they’ve gone just W5-D8-L2 as 11 of the last 13 saw fewer than three goals in total.
The prospect of this game failing to witness too many goal-bound efforts are raised when considering Juve have been efficient rather than blistering under Maurizio Sarri.
They’ve only netted more than two goals twice in their past 15 matches, which is poor in comparison with the other elite sides in Europe, as the likes of Liverpool, Man City, Bayern, Barcelona and others regularly hit a greater number in the forward department. However, at the prices, ‘unders’ may not be the best way to attain value in the betting.
Half With Most Goals
Atletico, guided by the demanding teamwork implemented by Diego Simeone, are of course one of the best defensive outfits around. They’re also unlikely to be dead on the feet by the closing stages as some teams inevitably are when facing Juve, having not seen much of the ball.
The hosts this season have been adept at finishing teams off during the second period as their last seven matches have seen five first half goals and 12 during the second half, including a two-seven split across the four outings since the beginning of November.
Meanwhile, Atletico have seen three first half goals and 13 second half strikes this term from nine road trips.
Head-To-Head
The head-to-heads between these two sides in recent years have also taken a while to ignite. Since 2014/15, they’ve met each other five times and seen just one first half goal compared to as many as nine second half efforts.
That solitary strike across the opening periods came last term as Cristiano Ronaldo bagged the first of a hat-trick, though of course there was pressure on Juve to provide the impetus that day having lost the first leg of that knockout tie 2-0 in Madrid.
This time there will be no such force to alter the hosts’ approach as they’ve already qualified for the next round. Atletico still have some work to do, though in all likelihood Lokomotiv Moscow and Bayer Leverkusen will have to compete for third place and subsequently a Europa League berth.
Draw/Draw – HT/FT
A draw would hardly represent a disastrous result for either team then, and given the visitors have now drawn four of five winless matches on their travels following the weekend’s action, it looks a tempting price.
Six of Atletico’s eight stalemates this season have been Draw/Draw in the HT/FT market, as have all three of Juve’s, while the hosts have been level at the break in eight of their past nine matches now and so that market appears profitable.
