Question marks are being asked of the direction Man Utd are heading in once again following their first home league defeat to Arsenal in 14 years.
It seems a reversal in fortunes is never far away from Old Trafford at the moment, with the highly applauded 5-0 demolition job on Leipzig last week virtually forgotten already.
Despite a tricky draw United are actually joint-top goalscorers alongside Barcelona in this season’s group stages, and after victories over rivals PSG and Leipzig they can ill afford to throw that good work out of the window when visiting pointless Istanbul.
The reigning Turkish Super Lig champions have their own problems and are currently down in seventh place this term domestically and are not expected to compete well in Europe’s top tier as both PSG and Leipzig have taken comfortable 2-0 wins off of them.
In fact, each of Basaksehir’s five defeats in the new season have come by that same scoreline, while their games have typically been tight affairs with seven of nine so far featuring fewer than three goals.
We wouldn’t be entirely confident that this will follow the same pattern however, with United seeing a minimum of three strikes in eight of 10 matches this term, and four or more in half.

Man Utd have now won nine in a row on their travels since late June and scored at least twice in each of these games. In fact, they’ve kept clean sheets in 12 of 15 away victories since Christmas, including four that ended 2-0 and five that finished 3-0, with those the most likely outcomes here.
However, at the bigger price we’d plump for the latter. PSG are the only side to limit the Red Devils to just two strikes from their five road trips this term, while United have triumphed 3-0 in four of their last nine on their travels now.

The win to nil looks highly likely here. United’s array of forward talent should cause Basaksehir plenty of problems, while Solskjaer has a deep enough squad to rotate elsewhere too.
The likes of Alex Tuanzebe, Nemanja Matic, Donny van de Beek, Juan Mata and Edinson Cavani can all expect some minutes here, and though the defence has faced plenty of criticism, United’s hosts are unlikely to test them too much.
Basaksehir are just one of three teams alongside Midtjylland and Marseille yet to score in this season’s group stages, while the last time they encountered English opposition they produced a pair of goalless stalemates with Burnley before going down in extra time during the 2018/19 Europa League qualifiers.
