The T20 series in India is taking a very similar shape to the Test one, with the visitors racking up a win in the first match before the hosts convincingly clawed it back in the second.
Virat Kohli looked back to his best on Sunday, with his 73 not out ensuring he became the first player to 3,000 runs in T20 internationals, and despite being dropped shortly after achieving his half century, if he’s in that sort of nick again for this test we’d be surprised if the hosts didn’t go on to clinch it.
What’s become clear is that India are using this series to try and find their best playing eleven ahead of the World Cup this Summer, and Ishan Kishan may get another chance to impress here after his half century on debut in the second T20.
Rohit Sharma may return to the line up as they search for more balance, though in truth they have the superior batting attack even if Sharma doesn’t feature.
India To Beat England
The pitch conditions didn’t help England’s ability to play the big shots, resulting in just three sixes in their innings, while batting first also has proven to be a disadvantage with the side bowling first going on to win both matches so far, so the coin toss could be imperative here.
On balance, though, we’d expect the hosts to continue their momentum with a win. Their bowling attack was much improved from the first T20, with their spinners making much more of an impact, and with such a short turnaround since the last game, the pitch isn’t going to have changed much and if anything, it may have got slower and will play into the hands of the spinners even more.
In what we’d expect to be another relatively low scoring encounter, the home win to take a 2-1 advantage looks like the best be for us, even if they are odds-on favourites.
