New Look England
After a really positive start to the test series, it quickly went sour for England as they succumbed to a 3-1 series defeat in India. That should have little bearing on this series though as only Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow will remain from that test squad, so with different personnel they will be hoping they can start fresh here.
As per the rankings, these are the top two T20 sides in world cricket at the moment, with England top of the list courtesy of winning five of six unbeaten series since 2018, as well as matches with Sri Lanka and Pakistan in that time.
They haven’t faced India in this run though, and the last time they did so the Indians took the series 2-1 despite being away from home that time.
In fact, the Men in Blue have won four of the last five T20 matches between the sides and have won two of the three series consisting of more than a single match.
India To Beat England
Both sides have incredibly strong batting line-ups, and are spoiled for choice to the extent that anyone they throw in you’d expect to come good.
On this wicket we’d expect spin to come in to play again, and that’s exactly what England have struggled with in the past few weeks.
Dawid Malan is the best T20 batsman in world cricket right now, and his presence should nullify the effect of India’s spin attack, though we’re unsure if that’s enough for the visitors to come out on top here so, so to kick-off the series we’ll bank on the home advantage reaping the rewards.
