Recent Form
Rangers may only have won twice in their last six outings across all competitions, but that doesn’t tell the whole story and there’s no reason for Steven Gerrard to sound the alarm.
The sole defeat over this spell saw them go down 1-0 to Celtic in a hotly contested League Cup final, stalemates with Feyenoord and Young Boys were enough to secure progression to the knockout rounds in Europe, while the other draw came against third-placed Aberdeen domestically.
Given the Gers beat Hearts 5-0 at home and Motherwell 2-0 on their travels in the other two games from this six-match period, while they also won the six fixtures prior to those results, it’s hard to look past the away team.
Indeed, each of their last seven victories have come by at least two clear strikes as they conceded just once across them.
Excluding fellow top-three sides Celtic and Aberdeen, as well as European matches, Rangers have now won all but one of their 10 road trips this term.
They kept seven clean sheets and never conceded more than once, while each of the past four have seen them win by a minimum two-goal margin.
Hibs have displayed some mixed form of late as they’ve gone W4-D1-L3 since the start of November in all tournaments.
However, it’s noticeable that two of the defeats came against Celtic, losing 5-2 and 2-0 in those games, while their other encounters with the Old Firm duo this season saw them hold out for a stalemate with the Hoops and get crushed 6-1 by Rangers at Ibrox.

The failure to score against Celtic on Sunday was however the first time in 13 matches across all competitions for Hibs, with both teams scoring in 11 of these.
Despite Rangers’ obvious defensive capabilities (the Gers have conceded just 10 times in 16 league matches this season), the clean sheet isn’t a dead cert and it’s the handicap that appeals to us more.
Alfredo Morelos may be suspended again following yet another red card for Rangers, though to be fair to the Colombian it was actually his first this season. Despite his absence, Gerrard should feel confident in his charges.
The Gers have actually won 82% of the 17 league games where the 23-year-old has been absent from the line-up since the beginning of last season, compared to just 59% in the 37 he’s started. That includes 12 of the past 13 without him as nine of those came by at least two clear strikes.
