Rangers will be out for revenge after their defeat to Hibernian in their recent League Cup semi-final, but they’ve recovered well with Giovanni van Bronckhorst getting off to the perfect start in the dugout.
They’ve recorded comfortable 2-0 and 3-1 victories over Sparta Prague and Livingston respectively, with the only slight tweak to the setup seeing a subtle switch from a 4-3-3 to a 4-2-3-1, as Joe Aribo look set to benefit from the change with impressive performances across the manager’s first two games as he’s more effective from central areas.
The visitors don’t have any new injury concerns ahead of this fixture and so there’s unlikely to be any particular shocks to the line-up.
Kemar Roofe could be fit to return to the squad, but although Filip Helander is back in training as he steps up his recovery from surgery, it won’t be until the new year that the big Swede returns to the heart of the defence.
With Leon Balogun sidelined at present as well, missing the last two games, Calvin Bassey can expect to retain his position alongside Conor Goldson at the back.
Rangers To Win By 1 Goal
Hibs secured a much-needed victory away at St. Johnstone at the weekend, though they certainly benefited from Craig Bryson’s sending off on the stroke of half time.
Two late goals completed the comeback win, but they had lost their previous five league games as there’s still plenty of convincing for Jack Ross’ side to do.
The other result for Hibs during this recent poor run of form was of course the win over Rangers in the League Cup, and there’s a sense that they’re able to raise their level when facing the Old Firm duo.
They’re W1-D4-L6 since the start of last season in such meetings, with four of those defeats coming by one-goal margins.
However, it’s worth noting that against Rangers alone, prior to the most recent clash when Rangers were between managers, Hibs had lost each of the past four with the Gers by 1-0 or 2-0 scorelines.
