Recent Form
After a hugely disappointing spell of form, Celtic will have been pleased to squeeze in a healthy 4-1 win on the road at Motherwell before the international break.
It still leaves them just W2-D2-L3 in all competitions since mid-October though, with Neil Lennon seemingly little closer to knowing exactly what his best starting line-up, or indeed formation is.
Finding goals hasn’t been such a problem as only watertight Rangers kept them off the scoresheet across those seven games, but worryingly for the Hoops, they only managed a single clean sheet over this period and conceded at least twice on five occasions.
However, although much talk of a crisis has descended upon Celtic and Lennon, it’s worth noting that these recent defeats came at home to Rangers, Milan and Sparta Prague, while the stalemates were picked up on the road at Aberdeen and Lille. That represents a tough run of fixtures, even if that defensive record leaves a lot to be desired.
Both Teams To Score
Hibernian were leapfrogged by Aberdeen before the internationals but responded well with a 4-1 win over Dundee in the League Cup. We can see them getting on the scoresheet here and both teams have in fact scored in 14 of their last 19 home league games.
They put two past Rangers and three past Hamilton in their last two at Easter Road, though conceded twice in both outings. Of those 19 games, 15 saw a minimum of three goals and nine featured four or more, so we should be set for an entertaining clash.
Celtic have certainly offered that up in recent outings and across all competitions, five of their last six have seen over 3.5 goals land.
They’ve scored at least twice in eight of their last nine league games, with the exception against Rangers, and at least three times in six of these, bagging 16 goals from five road trips over this period.
Celtic To Win And Both Teams To Score
Despite poor form of late overall, Celtic have still won 14 of 17 unbeaten road trips in the Premiership over the past 13 months, scoring at least twice in 15 of these and three or more on nine occasions.
They put seven past Aberdeen and Motherwell across their last two away days, while Lennon will have been pleased to see star striker Odsonne Edouard find some form with a brace for the French U21 side.
He hasn’t sparkled this season, particularly after returning from a positive covid-19 test, but Lennon will hope he can kick on and increase his team’s output further.
