So we have come up with three value pics to try and help you cash in. Look no further than the following:
EDINSON CAVANI – URUGUAY
All eyes will be on Luis Suarez as Uruguay kicks off its World Cup Group A campaign on Friday against Mo Salah’s Egypt (1pm).
Suarez is the same price as his strike-partner to be the leading scorer in Russia, but it is Cavani who should attract more attention. The Paris Saint-Germain man topped the French Ligue 1 scoring charts and also notched double figures in Uruguay’s South American qualifying campaign.
When looking for potential Golden Boot winners, you want a striker who is fit, in form and playing for a team that would seemingly go a long way in the competition.
Uruguay has a soft group, with Russia, Egypt and Saudia Arabia. As we highlighted in our preview of Group A, Russia are not going far without injured defender Viktor Vasin and Georgi Dzhikiya, Saudi Arabia are expected to be the whipping boys and Egypt are half a team without Liverpool man Salah.
If, as expected, Uruguay top the group, they will likely face Portugal in the quarter-finals, as Spain will win Group B, and then probably face France in the quarter-finals. Yet it is the Group stage that is key and we can see Cavani and company strolling through with plenty of goals.
If Cavani scores four goals, not only will his current 22/1 odds look big, he will also earn your money back.
ANTOINE GRIEZMANN - FRANCE
There is a lot of expectation surrounding France. Rightly so. You only have to look at some of the talent that didn’t make the final 23, such as Dimiri Payet, Anthony Martial and Alexandre Lacazette, to know that this squad is among the deepest in the World.
Griezmann is certainly happier in a strike partnership rather than a 4-3-3 system, but there is no doubt he is the main target.
The Atletico Madrid marksman scored six goals in seven games at Euro 2016 and netted four times in France’s dominant World Cup qualifying campaign. Though fourth favourite in the Golden Boot odds, France similarly has an easy group, comprising Denmark, Australia and Peru, and goals should be forthcoming from this talented squad.
France are the favourites to score most goals in the competition and should reach the quarter-finals comfortably. The more games they play, the better Griezmann’s tally should get.
PHILIPPE COUTINHO – BRAZIL
Neymar is fit again, Brazil’s squad is stronger than that of the 2014 group that went to the semi-finals and though not an easy group with Serbia, Switzerland and Costa Rica within it, Le Selecao should reach the semi-finals comfortably again.
The odd thing to us is that while Neymar tops the Golden Boot betting, Coutinho is a massive 50/1 with Genting Bet.
That is astonishing, since he scored 22 goals in 42 games for Liverpool and Barcelona and 27 goals in 52 games for club and country last season. That is not a bad return, especially when he also weighed in with 13 assists.
He can score with either foot, has great close control and is always a threat around the box and from dead-ball positions. There is plenty to like about the 26-year-old, who could easily lift the trophy.
