Fulham vs Watford - EPL Betting Preview

Watford suffered their first defeat of the season last week, blowing their 100 percent record, while Fulham went down to the Champions. We look at some of the trends and odds available for the Saturday lunch-time clash…

FULHAM V WATFORD

Watford will hope to bounce back to winning ways following their 2-1 home defeat by Manchester United last weekend, while Fulham were beaten 3-0 at Manchester City.

This promises to be an entertaining battle (Sat, 12.30pm), with both side providing plenty of fluid football and while Watford have the better record, with four wins and a one defeat, Fulham looked assured of better things to come when beating Burnley 4-2 at Craven Cottage last month.

The Cottagers also have a fair record against Watford at home, holding them scoreless in five of their last seven meetings and Fulham are 9/4 to keep a clean sheet again.

Since beating Arsenal 2-1 in January, Watford have lost on each of their last eight Premier League games in London and so one could argue they are due to reverse that form. They have won away at Burnley this season on their only road trip in the league.

Fulham have worryingly conceded at least two goals in each of their last nine Premier League starts and have failed to score in each of their last three meetings with the Hornets. It is 13/5 for Watford to keep another clean sheet.

Watford captain Troy Deeney has netted four goals in his two league appearances against Watford and is 6/1 to be the first scorer and 21/10 to score at any time.

GOALS ON THE CARDS?

Fulham are 7/5 to win consecutive home Premier League matches for the first time since April 2013. The Cottagers’ propensity to leak goals is troublesome, but they have shown plenty of attacking intent and Aleksandar Mitrovic has got on the scoresheet at least once in three of the last four outings. Mitrovic is 7/2 to score the first goal and 11/10 to net at any time.

However, his strike-partner, Andre Schrulle has also scored in two of the last three outings and may be value at 17/10 to score at any time.

WATFORD LATE SHOW?

No side has scored more second-half goals than Watford this season (eight, level with Chelsea) and it is 11/2 that it will be a draw at half-time and Watford go on to win.

While Fulham have conceded 12 goals in total, they have scored at least twice in three of their last four league and cup games, there will be a few who like the look of the 6/10 odds for both sides to score.

Watford won their last away league game beating Burnley 2-1 at Turf Moor. It snapped a consecutive losing streak of 12 away games and Hornets’ supporters will hope that they do exactly what they did last season, by winning three consecutive away games.

Like Turf Moor, the atmosphere at Craven Cottage is hardly intimidating and the Hornets will fancy their chances. Those who back Watford at 15/8 to win are going against a few historic trends, but there is no doubt their pace, power and desire going forward means they look fair value to score at least once and it is 13/10 that they score more than one goal.
