The race for the Premier League Golden Boot is still on as the 2018/19 Premier League season enters its final weekend.
Harry Kane, who topped the scoring charts in successive campaigns between 2015/16 and 2016/17 set his sights on regaining the crown from Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, but the Tottenham man is out of the running this season with a significant ankle injury.
Salah, who won the Golden Boot last year for the first time with 32 goals, is out in front with 22 goals this time after his latest strike against Newcastle. The Genting Casino Premier League odds to win the Golden Boot are 3/10.
His teammate, Sadio Mane, is two behind on 20 goals and is a 14/1 chance.
Manchester City’s 2014/15 winner Sergio Aguero will fancy his chances of scoring at least once at Brighton. He will need to score at least twice to join Salah at the top of the scoring charts. The Argentine is 12/5 to score two or more against Brighton and 8/1 to score a hat-trick. His odds to win the Golden Boot are 4/1.
Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is also on 20 goals for the season and after his hat-trick at Valencia in midweek, which put the Gunners into the Europa League final and a clash with Chelsea, a Golden Boot title would cap a glorious season. He is 16/1 to bag a hat-trick at Burnley on Sunday, and 17/4 to score two or more at Turf Moor. His odds to win the Golden Boot are 14/1.
Interestingly, neither Salah nor Aubameyang have scored any goals with their head, while Aguero, who has played 2,392 minutes in the Premier League, is by far the most effective striker, scoring at 119 minutes per goal and has eight assists to his name. He has also hit the woodwork eight times.
Salah, who may not be fit to face Wolves on Sunday, is scoring at 144 minutes per goal and likewise has eight assists, compared to Mane, who has scored 25% of his goals with his head, but has only one assist to his name.
Of those below 20 goals, Leicester’s Jamie Vardy has been in fine form recently and his late charge sees him on 18 goals. He is Evens to score at any time when the Foxes host Chelsea on Sunday, and 17/4 to score two or more.
Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling (17) and Chelsea’s Eden Hazard (16) are also in the running. Sterling is 17/10 to net at any stage against Brighton and 7/2 to score two or more as City attempt to win the title. Hazard is 6/4 to score at any time against Leicester.
