After yesterday’s ineffective display against Liverpool, are you worried the hype surrounding Cole Palmer could derail his career?

Will the hype around Cole Palmer derail his form? No, I don’t think so. Palmer had a very good season last season, but started poorly this season and responded well in September.

The media are making so much noise about young talented players. Palmer is a very good player but he’s not yet a top international player and that’s the level he needs to reach.

He shows promising skills, maturity and personality but he’s done nothing yet if we’re honest and is far from world class at the moment.

Do you think the insults to Palmer online about him being dumb and stupid have gone too far?

I’ve seen people calling Palmer stupid and thick and listen, there will always be people typing from behind a computer screen and for Palmer, it is no different. It’s the world we’re living in right now.

When you’re famous and you don’t reach expectations, people on social media will be racist, and make bad comments and the abuse of Palmer needs to stop - I think it’s disgraceful.

Abuse on social media has been like this for ages and you need to point the finger at Instagram and other platforms.

You can see celebrities getting affected by it and it’s a massive pity - the social platforms must be strict about the rules and it’s the biggest problem with media at the moment

Cole Palmer is just one person but there have been so many players targeted every weekend. But the best thing he can do is ignore it and keep doing what he’s doing, keep confident and forget about the noise.

After Sanchez’s disastrous performance against Liverpool, is it time for Chelsea to go all out for Pickford or Maignan?

I was not convinced at all by Robert Sanchez against Liverpool. He came off his line badly, didn’t give assurance to the defence and so for me, it was obvious that he was nowhere near the level to be on the pitch.

I think he’s a good goalkeeper but he’s not good enough for Chelsea, especially if you look at who they have had in the past like Petr Cech.

There is two French goalkeepers who I love. Mike Maignan, of AC Milan, but he will probably be too expensive.

However, Lille goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier has been marvellous in recent years and has been making miracles in the goal. I really think he could be the answer to Chelsea’s goalkeeping problems.

When you look at his game against Real Madrid, he was incredible and saved huge chances from Mbappe and Vini Jr and they couldn’t believe how good he was. Chelsea need to focus on a new goalkeeper instead of a striker, as Jackson has shown he is good enough.

On the bench yesterday, many Chelsea fans seem to think that Fernandez doesn’t offer enough for his price tag and we still don’t know his best position, would you agree with that statement?

Listen, Enzo Fernandez is a holding midfielder and I believe he will be great with Caicedo in the future, but right now he has done nowhere near enough to justify his price tag.

His best position is a holding midfielder and I think step by step, he will show a great partnership with Caicedo.

Last season, Enzo was poor and there’s no denying that. He had a difficult season and I also think Enzo’s racist comments about France didn’t help him. I’m not surprised he’s still struggling at Chelsea.

Maresca gave him the armband too and I’m not sure why. Caicedo, however, I think can help him as he also struggled at first but is now flourishing.

Moises Caicedo has been superb this season and was again against Liverpool, do you think he’s been the best holding midfielder in the Premier League?

Caicedo was the best player on the pitch against Liverpool and he was wearing the armband. He showed great personality and mentality from start to finish.

He showed incredible composure on the ball with so many men around him and I was very impressed with him.

In big games like this, you don’t have time to think and when you look at the whole game, he gave an assist, recovered the ball, so much energy. Honestly, it was a very good game from him.

I think he has certainly been the best midfielder in the league this season. I don’t like even calling him a holding midfielder as he’s so much better than that. For me, he’s a modern midfielder and definitely one of the best players this season.

After eight games, what is your top four prediction this year and title winners?

After watching eight games, I think I can say safely that Chelsea will make the top four, alongside Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool.

I do not want to predict the title yet, but I think Chelsea will get in the top four with those other three clubs - they have shown enough quality for that.

Arsenal now have more red cards than any other club since Mikel Arteta took over, how much of a problem is Arsenal’s discipline becoming?

Arsenal's red cards are worrying as they can't handle suspensions

Arsenal getting sending-offs is like the good old days! To be honest, I think Arsenal look a little nervous at the moment. Rice’s red card was so stupid, especially given he’s one of the most intelligent players in the league.

When I look at Saliba’s red card, he totally deserved the red card. It’s something that could be very damaging but when you look at their squad, they don’t have enough to handle their suspensions.

That is still the case and it’s very worrying. Saliba got injured two years ago and the same thing happened, they had no one to replace him and they fell short of the title

Do you think Arteta is going too far with his ‘dark arts’ tactics and actually just needs to figure out how to win games?

I won’t point the finger at Arteta but I’m worried about how many games they have to play as they have no squad depth.

Arteta has done a great job, I’m just worried about the amount of games they have to play. Against Bournemouth, they could have played for two days without scoring.

I don’t think it’s a case of Arteta focussing too much on the dark arts, I just think with his squad size, he doesn’t have a choice but to do that sometimes!

Raheem Sterling was hooked before half-time, while Mikel Merino didn’t do much, do you think Arsenal’s business was strong enough in the summer?

Mikel Merino is a very good player and needs more time after his initial injury. He has great vision, and technical skills and he will become an important player for them, but I’m not sure I can really say the same about Sterling.

Arsenal looked hapless without Odegaard and Saka, do you think they look like a mid-table team without their star players?

I wouldn’t say they look like a mid-table team without Saka and Odegaard, but they certainly look much worse as Saka is so effective and one of the best wingers in the league.

We’re so lucky that Saka hasn’t been injured for a long period, can you imagine if he got injured for two or three months? It would completely derail the season.

The first XI of Arsenal is as good as Liverpool and City, the difference is on the bench

If you had to sign one player in the world for Arsenal who could win them the title, who would it be?

If I could sign one player to help Arsenal win the title, it would be Nico Williams.

He has so much quality and I have always said he will be such a great player for them.

If they cannot sign Williams, Arsenal need to sign Rodrygo from Real Madrid as he’s so underrated and gets overshadowed by Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr.

He reminds me a bit of Sylvain Wiltord when I was at Arsenal. I really think he would be a star at the Emirates and be an amazing player who can play across all three positions across the front line.

I know he was asked about Mbappe and Vinicius Jr the other day and he responded: “I am Rodrygo, look at what I did last season?. This guy is so underrated and perhaps he feels like is being overshadowed at Real Madrid?

In any case, he could be an absolute superstar for Arsenal and I rate him very much. He scores goals, gives assists and gives great energy on the pitch.

Lee Dixon said Angel Gomes would be brilliant alongside Declan Rice, do you agree?

I know Lee Dixon said Angel Gomes would be good for Arsenal, but to be honest I don’t think Arsenal need another midfielder at the moment.

Arsenal need central defenders or strikers at the moment and this needs to be the priority of the team at the moment.

Should Arsenal look to sign Enzo Fernandez given his struggles at Chelsea?

Enzo Fernandez to Arsenal? I’m not so sure. I don’t think Arsenal need Enzo and I still think Chelsea can get the best of him because he is so good for Argentina.

Last season was a very strange season for Chelsea and Maresca is ruthless and Chelsea needs that right now.

You can already feel the benefit of Maresca’s management and I think he will eventually get the best of Fernandez.

Chelsea have only lost three games in 26 games, including under Pochettino, so I think Chelsea actually have been over-criticized in recent months, but they’ve been a lot better than people think.
