It’s a big night for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as his United side welcome PSG to Old Trafford in the first leg of their Champions League Last 16 tie. We’ve got all your odds and insight here.

Manchester United vs Paris Saint Germain - Champions League Betting Preview

Back in December when the draw was made for the knockout stages of the Champions League, not many would have given Manchester United a chance; now though, that’s all changed. Just a day later, Jose Mourinho was sacked and since then the Reds have proven to be quite the revelation under interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The United legend has 10 wins in eleven, with many now touting him to scoop a permanent role if he can lead United to the Quarter Finals in Europe. And what better time than now to face their opponents PSG?

Solskjaer So Good

The numbers speak for themselves. Solskjaer’s side have now racked up more Premier League wins than Jose Mourinho was able to muster in double the amount of games in this current campaign. That’s got to count for something and that’s reflected in the betting with United coming in at 6/4 slight favourites to win to PSGs 13/8 price.

What’s been most impressive about Solskjaer’s reign so far though, is the way in which he’s got United’s attack back firing on all cylinders. Through the likes of Pogba and Rashford, the Reds have scored at least two goals in nine of their eleven games under the Norwegian, making 21/20 for them to score at least 1.5 goals look good value.

If you’re wondering where those goals might come from, Marcus Rashford is without a doubt the form man for United having bagged himself six goals under Solskjaer. Based on that return, he looks reasonably priced to score anytime at football betting odds of 7/5.

Attack isn’t the only area that United have improved drastically since their last Champions League outing though. As a side that have kept five clean sheets under Solskjaer and leaked on average less than a goal a game, it’s not inconceivable that a PSG outfit lacking Neymar and possibly Cavani through injury could fail to find the back of the net with a United clean sheet priced at 13/5.

Domestic Dip

PSG will certainly have to improve on their recent form of late too if they’re to break down a resolute United defence. The French Champions have been exposed on more than one occasion of late in domestic football, chalking up their first defeat in the league against Lyon and then failing to score against third-tier French side Villefranche inside 90 minutes in the space of four days.

With the likes of Mbappe at their disposal though, it looks set to be a fascinating contest and one in which either side have the capability to wrestle control of the tie.

The form is certainly with United, but to PSG’s credit they’re yet to fail to register away from home in this year’s competition. All things considered, United to win and both teams to score looks particularly tempting at Champions League betting odds of 3/1.
