Half way through the group stage it’s Finland and Wales who look to be battling it out for the top two spots, with Ireland sitting just a point above relegation and, realistically, nothing other than a win here will launch them back into contention for promotion to Group A.
Finland took a nasty 5-1 blow when facing Poland in a friendly last week, though in this group they sit just one point off promotion with six points from three games, including a win in the reverse fixture back in Dublin.
The Eagle-owls are quite unpredictable, winning four and losing five of their nine most recent outings, while even on home soil that goes to a balanced W3-L2.
One constant in Finnish matches is that the match tends to sway in one direction or the other, with none of their last 25 ending in a stalemate dating back to a 0-0 draw with Macedonia in March 2018.
Having seen their Euro dream end in heartbreaking fashion last week when they went out on Penalties to Slovakia, Ireland reacted to take a well earned point from group leaders Wales at the weekend.

They’re now winless in five, drawing four of those and although Finland are opposed to stalemates, we wouldn’t want to back that outcome considering Ireland’s recent record.

It’s not exactly been goal fests for the Fins either, with the exception of their trouncing by Poland, so we’d expect quite a dour match here and plug for Unders, though at such a short price there’s more value in backing just the one goal or none at all with that being the case in nine of those 15 matches for Ireland.
