Marco Silva is on shaky ground as the bookies’ frontrunner to lose his job, having now lost four on the trot as the Toffees have sunk into the relegation zone.
Although a defeat to Man City is nothing to be ashamed of, the other three fixtures were against eminently beatable teams in the shape of Bournemouth, Sheffield United and Burnley, and much more was expected from the Portuguese coach in his second season at the club having spent big.
The Hammers also experienced a couple of disappointing results prior to the international break as well, drawing at Bournemouth and then losing at home to Palace courtesy of a late goal.
However, that latter result was their first defeat since an opening day loss to Man City and they remain in the top half of the table – a full 10 places above their hosts here.
One major concern for the visitors is the absence through injury of goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, who missed the last game as they went down to Palace. Up until that match the Polish shot stopper had been an ever present for West Ham since his arrival last summer, winning their player of the year award in a fine debut season at the club.
However, aside from the Eagles’ 4-0 defeat away to Spurs, Roy Hodgson’s men have been in good form and Everton’s string of bad results is far more concerning than West Ham’s defeat at Selhurst Park.
Manuel Pellegrini’s charges are even unbeaten in six road trips stretching back into last season now and so appear a solid option draw no bet.

Although the visitors are without Fabianski, Everton have their own concerns with missing men. Captain Seamus Coleman is suspended after being sent off in their last game at Burnley, and without the Irish right-back, Everton have lost six of nine games since Silva arrived in the dugout (67%), compared to just 35% they’ve lost of the 37 matches he’s started over this period.
In midfield, Jean-Philippe Gbamin is injured and Fabian Delph is a doubt. The former was signed this summer with the intention of replacing now PSG enforcer Idrissa Gueye, but he’s struggled with injury and has been absent for all five of their defeats.
Delph has stepped into the role for the past five games and although he has a chanced of featuring here, his introduction to the team hasn’t exactly gone well with Everton’s form crumbling over this period.

The Hammers’ chances are further improved by the fact that they’ve bagged the opening goal in all six matches where there’s been at least one strike since that opening day loss to Man City.
By contrast, Everton have conceded first in five of their last six matches. That spells trouble for the Toffees as they’ve never won a game under Silva when they’ve conceded the opener, losing 17 of 20 such matches, including a 3-1 defeat in this exact fixture last term.
