West Brom did little to impress on their return to the top flight as they succumbed 3-0 to Leicester. Despite the Foxes missing defenders Ricardo Pereira and Johnny Evans, the Baggies could only muster just a single shot on target and were dominated in possession, so Everton’s new-look midfield will fancy their chances of exerting complete control over this clash.
Midfield metronome Allan enjoyed a fine debut against Tottenham as he constantly won back the ball and recycled it, Abdoulaye Doucoure did the hard yards and typically won his duels, allowing Andre Gomes more freedom as the Portuguese completed 37 of his 39 passes.
Star summer signing James Rodriguez proved an instant hit, providing numerous key passes, so we very much doubt the visitors are going to see a lot of the ball here.

Everton To Win To Nil
West Brom’s transfer activity has so far been pretty much limited to making loan deals permanent. However, this team are just W4-D5-L5 in all competitions since late February, with the best sides they’ve faced being Leicester, Newcastle, Swansea, Brentford and Fulham.
We wouldn’t pay much attention to their 3-0 win over Harrogate Town midweek, but it’s worth noting that on both occasions where they took on Premier League outfits, they shipped three goals.
Worryingly for the Baggies, Everton are tough to overcome at Goodison Park where they’re W12-D8-L4 in the league since March 2019. That includes just the single defeat in 12 since December, despite having welcomed top sides Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd, Liverpool and Leicester in that time.
They did stumble to draws to the likes of Newcastle, Southampton and Villa, but with quality added to the ranks this summer they’ll expect to turn some of those stalemates into victories.
West Brom scored just 31 times in their last top-flight stay back in 2017/18 and things look set to take a similar turn this time around.
It’s difficult to see where the goals are going to come from at this level and the likes of Hal Robson-Kanu, Kenneth Zohore, Charlie Austin and Callum Robinson are hardly going to strike fear into their opponents.
Everton To Beat West Brom
Six of West Brom’s last seven defeats in all competitions have come by the single strike, but up against higher quality opposition, we’d expect Everton to be more commanding.
Still, the Toffees only won by more than a single strike on three occasions at home last term, against West Ham, Chelsea and Palace, so we wouldn’t want to get behind them on the handicap just yet, even if they are undoubtedly an improved outfit.
