Everton have a tough final-day trip to Arsenal and will be eager to make sure of their fate here, thus avoiding any late and unnecessary drama. They’re W3-D2-L2 across their past seven fixtures, which is highly respectable when considering the opponents they’ve faced, as well as the dire state the club was in prior to this run.
Man Utd, Chelsea and Leicester were all beaten over this period, while of the two defeats, one came at Anfield to Liverpool and the other saw them down to 10 men inside 20 minutes against Brentford, before another sending off late on.
Prior to hosting the Bees, Everton had won three of four unbeaten outings at Goodison Park, all 1-0 successes, as home form has proved pivotal in their battle against the drop.
Richarlison To Score Anytime
Richarlison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Gordon will surely lead the line, with Demarai Gray in reserve, with the Brazilian finding form at just the right time. Richarlison now has eight goals from 11 appearances for club or country, which includes finding the net in each of Everton’s past three at home to Leicester, Chelsea and Brentford.
Frank Lampard has a number of players unavailable to him here, with his biggest problems concentrated in defence. Jarrad Braithwaite and Salomon Rondon are suspended following their red cards, and the former may well have gotten another opportunity here with Yerry Mina injured, and both Michael Keane and Ben Godfrey doubts.
Lampard will be desperate to have one of the latter two available to partner Mason Holgate and Seamus Coleman in a back three, with that system yielding results of late. Elsewhere, Nathan Patterson, Andros Townsend and Fabian Delph are all sidelined, while Donny van de Beek looks set to miss out again as well.
Patrick Vieira has virtually a clean bill of health, with Nathan Ferguson and James McArthur unlikely to have been involved in any case. The Eagles have little to play for, with an improbable top-half finish the only thing potentially achievable at this stage of the season, but there’s unlikely to be any surprises in the team selection.
Everton And Palace To Draw
Despite the lack of importance to recent fixtures, Palace haven’t allowed their standards to drop. Following a trio of defeats to Leicester, Chelsea and Newcastle, all by one-goal margins, they’ve recovered by putting together a four-game unbeaten streak. These were all against bottom-half sides, against whom they hold a W5-D9-L3 record this term.
No one has drawn more games than the Eagles this term, while seven of 14 head-to-heads between these two sides in all competitions since 2015/16 have ended in a stalemate.
A point wouldn’t be the ideal result for Everton, but they’ve only won two of their past 12 against bottom-half sides and a draw would at least edge them a little closer to survival, and may even be enough in the final reckoning.
