The Toffees have achieved good results under interim coach Duncan Ferguson so far, beating Chelsea at Goodison Park and holding Man Utd to a stalemate at Old Trafford.

He may have received criticism for his handling of 19-year-old Moise Kean, who he hooked 19 minutes after coming on as a substitute, but clearly his Everton side should pose Leicester a greater threat than they would have done in the final days under Marco Silva.

Leicester saw their winning streak come to an end on Saturday as they put in an underwhelming performance and were unexpectedly held at home by Norwich.

However, Brendan Rodgers appeared to concede he got his tactics wrong on this occasion as he made a substitute inside 40 minutes and another at half time, with a formation change to boot as he scrapped the midfield diamond in favour of their more usual 4-1-4-1.

Having racked up nine consecutive wins prior to that result they’ll be no shortage of confidence in the camp, while Brendan Rodgers’ squad is even deep enough to rest one or two players here.

Although we should see some rotation, we wouldn’t expect a completely second-string side to take to the field either.

Rodgers has sprinkled a few first team players into his line-ups against the likes of Burton Albion and Luton Town in the past two rounds, accompanied by very strong benches, while in their first game in this competition against Premier League outfit Newcastle, he put out something close to his best side.

With the Foxes 13 points clear of fifth-placed Spurs and 10 behind league leaders Liverpool, it would be a real surprise if Rodgers didn’t go for the League Cup as their most realistic chance of landing some silverware.

Meanwhile, Everton will want to build some momentum given their poor league position and with some tough fixtures coming up, so Ferguson will likely to call upon his strongest available XI.

Everton And Leicester To Draw

The hosts do however have some injury concerns. The potential absences of French full-backs Djibril Sidibe and Lucas Digne are well covered by experienced duo Leighton Baines and captain Seamus Coleman.

However, Morgan Schneiderlin and Theo Walcott will miss out again owing to calf problems, joining long-term absentees Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Andre Gomes on the sidelines.

With both Gylfi Sigurdsson (illness) and Fabian Delph (hamstring) big doubts, Everton’s midfield is somewhat decimated.

The Toffees have however lost just once in their past five at Goodison Park now. Given the upturn in performances under caretaker management, including without any of those aforementioned midfielders last time out away at Man Utd, the draw appears to hold the best value in this clash.

Indeed, Leicester have drawn all six meetings with fellow Premier League sides across the FA Cup and League Cup over the past 24 months.

Everton And Leicester To Draw At 5/2
