ENGLAND TO HIT THE MOST SIXES AT 8/11!
Opening Win For England
The prioritising of the shorter versions of cricket from the ECB certainly showed following their eight-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the first T20.
Jos Buttler hit an unbeaten 68 runs to help England to a comfortable win in the end, as together with Jason Roy, they clocked up an impressive 86-run opening partnership before the latter was caught by Danushka Gunathilaka on 36.
The two sides face off again tonight at Sophia Gardens and with the World Cup on the horizon in October, Eoin Morgan’s men will want to put on another show.
The number one side in the world in this format was almost faultless and perhaps the main talking point was that of Adil Rashid not being hit for a single boundary and taking a brace of wickets.
Sri Lanka Top Runscorer: Dasun Shanaka
Sri Lanka comes into this series off the back of a Test Series win over Bangladesh on home soil, but they’ve lost five of their six ODIs this year as well as three of their four T20s, and it doesn’t look good for their chances.
They’ve now lost 10 of their last 11 T20s dating back to mid-October 2019, with five of those defeats by at least a seven-wicket margin and three by at least 43 runs.
It isn’t going to get any easier in Wales tonight, but the price does already reflect the fact England have an 87% chance of winning.
With a top-order that’s likely to collapse once more, you have to like the chances of Dasun Shanaka to be their top scorer.
The all-rounder hit a half-century yesterday and has now topped their batting in his last two T20s, and with seven players ahead of him in the betting for Sri Lanka’s top scorer, we like his chances.
Sri Lanka Top Runscorer: Dasun Shanaka At 9/2
