Recent Form
Following on from their test tour earlier in the year, Sri Lanka will come back for the remaining formats this week as they play three ODIs and 3 T20s.
England head into this off the back of a 1-0 test series defeat to New Zealand, though they did field a weakened side and will have their stars back for this tour from the Sri Lankans, something that has come under scrutiny as the ECB seems to be prioritising the shorter versions of the game.
England certainly look to be the more prepared outfit, especially for the next three T20’s with the majority of their players featuring in the T20 Blast, so they’re no stranger to the format at the moment, while they’re also the number one ranked side in the world, so Sri Lanka will have their work cut out here.
Sri Lanka come into this off the back of a heavy test series defeat against Bangladesh, which certainly doesn’t bode well while their T20 form is equally as disappointing.
They’ve won just one of their last 11 T20 internationals, losing each of their last four series and there’s little to suggest this one will be any different.
Sri Lanka Highest Opening Partnership
With England bound to win this game, there’s little value on backing them outright. Jason Roy and Jos Buttler are likely to open the batting together, though they certainly weren’t convincing as a pair against India last time out and although they should find this test slightly easier, there’s a lot of pressure on their shoulders to get off to a flyer.
They look very much on the short side to do so, and the Sri Lankan’s might be worth a punt in this market at the prices, even if they don’t go on to win.
Sri Lanka Highest Opening Partnership At 5/4
