Gareth Southgate’s men bounced back from their 1-1 draw with Poland at the end of the previous international break, beating Andorra 5-0 with Jack Grealish and Ben Chilwell getting their first International goals on what was a positive night for the Three Lions.
They certainly would have hoped to have the group wrapped up by now, though Albania’s persistence is continuing as they sit just four points behind with their victory over Hungary at the weekend.
That was a massive game in the fight for second place in this group, and one that Hungary will view as a missed opportunity.
They now sit five points adrift of Albania in second if they were to fall a further three points behind here it’s all but over for their hopes of qualification from this group, and they’ll be hoping their Nations League Ranking is enough to see them into the play-offs.
After what was an exceptional build up to the Euros and an impressive display at the finals themselves (a run in which they went unbeaten in 11 games prior to the tournament before losing just one of their three group games against France, Germany, and Portugal), they’ve now lost three of their last four matches, including a heavy 4-0 defeat against England.

With England now going unbeaten in 17 matches over 90 minutes, this seems like more of a case of ‘by how much’ they’re going to win by, not ‘if’.
The Three Lions haven’t conceded more than a single strike in any of those 17 outings, while each of the last four victories over 90 minutes have come by at least four clear goals, including the last outing against the Hungarians.
That result came via four second half goals, however, and Hungary actually have a phenomenal first half record to England to contend with.
Indeed, not only have the Hungarians not lost any of their last 14 opening halves of football, but they also haven’t even conceded in any of the most recent 13, with all 17 strikes they’ve conceded across those matches coming after the break.
That, in turn, highlights how susceptible Hungary are to late goals, conceding eight in the final 15 minutes of their last seven outings, including in each of their last five.

The value seems to be in getting Hungary onside in the first half market, considering their record, though there seems to be little chance of them holding out for the entire game and that brings the half-time/full-time market into the fore, while at least one strike late on in the game seems a near certainty when Hungary are in the equation.
