Another Comprehensive Win For England
England produced a comfortable 4-0 victory over Bulgaria on Saturday, leaving them with a whopping 14 goals from three outings in Group A so far.
That makes it 13 win to nils in the last 16 World Cup or Euro qualifiers at Wembley now, all of which they ended up victorious in anyway, so there should be little doubt as to who will come out on top here.
England Can’t Afford To Be Complacent
However, Gareth Southgate has good reason to warn his players against any complacency. Kosovo may have only officially been playing international football since 2014 and lost nine of 10 winless qualifiers for the last World Cup, but they’ve won 10 of 15 unbeaten games since then making them the most in-form team in Europe.
The standard of opposition they’ve faced has been extremely poor for the most part admittedly, but they were at least able to earn a stalemate with Denmark in March and have beaten Bulgaria and the Czech Republic by one-goal margins in their past two qualifiers.
England -2 Handicap
Both teams have now scored in all five of Kosovo’s games in 2019 now, but such is the Three Lions’ record at home in qualifiers that we can’t see that landing here.
The best side the visitors have faced during their short existence has been Croatia, against whom they lost 6-0 at home and 1-0 on the road during the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
Given England have won by a minimum of four clear goals in all three qualifiers to date, the -2 handicap looks a pretty safe bet.
Time Of First Goal
England have been pretty consistent at opening their account reasonably early in home games, scoring the first of the game between 16 and 30 minutes on the clock in five of seven home qualifiers going back to October 2016.
In fact, six of their last eight matches against anyone across all venues have seen a goal in that same time period, with three of the last four on home turf seeing England bag openers in the 25th, 24th and 24th minutes against the USA, the Czech Republic and Bulgaria respectively.

Benefiting from a weak qualifying group, England should find themselves in cruise control once the opening goal has been registered. However, there’s no lack of confidence and with competition for places high, we’d expect them to continue swatting aside the weaker teams.
Having only featured for the final 20 minutes against Bulgaria, Jadon Sancho should expect to find himself playing from the off this time around and we fancy him to grab his first England goal.
He’s recorded six goals in as many starts for Borussia Dortmund going back into pre-season, and it’s only a matter of time before opening his account for the national side.
