Following a shock loss to Scotland, England’s cricketers take on Australia in a One Day International at The Oval, looking to bounce back.

England v Australia - ODI Cricket Betting Preview

After a weekend to forget for English cricket, Eoin Morgan and co. have no option but to disregard the loss to Scotland and put their full attention into Wednesday’s one-day international against the Aussies.

The England one-day outfit has been one of the best around of late, bouncing back from the Ashes Test series defeat in fine fashion with a 4-1 one-day series victory against their bitter southern hemisphere rivals. England are ranked the number one ranked team in the ODI rankings, with Australia down in fifth. Get England to come out on top and show their worth here at 6/10.

Unfortunately for England, losing by six runs to Scotland at the weekend has certainly changed the mood within the camp. Couple that with injuries to key players such as Stokes and Woakes, and that has surely only dampened the mood further. Get the Aussies to take advantage and take the first game here at 13/10.

Meanwhile Australia are not without problems of their own. Following the ball tampering scandal, they are without former captain Steve Smith and opener David Warner.

With big names missing on both sides, this match can be seen as a window of opportunity for others to have their moment in the limelight. Here we have looked at three players from the England camp that we believe could help make the difference.

Jake Ball (pace bowler)

Ball was part of the team that helped England rediscover their mojo when they beat the Aussies 4-1 in the last ODI series. Although not picked originally, the 27-year old has been drafted in for the injured Chris Woakes and is currently the leading wicket-taker in the County Championship, showing that he has the ability to shine on his day.

Jonny Bairstow (batsman/wicket-keeper)

One player who can take plenty of positivity from the defeat against Scotland is Bairstow. The Yorkshireman hit a fine hundred off just 59 balls - one of just two batsmen to pass 50 on the day. Remarkably, Bairstow struck his third consecutive one-day hundred. If he can continue his fine form at the Kia Oval, backing Bairstow to be England’s top run scorer at 3/1 represents good value.

Eoin Morgan (captain)

As captain, Morgan has to get his players to forget about the past and concentrate on the present, and they need that now more than ever. The skipper will no doubt be absolutely set on getting his side returning to winning ways. Leading from the front is the best way to do that and Morgan must improve on the 20 he managed against Scotland.
