Recent Form

After a dismal start to their Europa League campaign, Celtic are right back in the picture following a pair of victories over Hungarian outfit Ferencvaros.

The Hoops worryingly demonstrated some defensive frailties in the absence of Carl Starfelt, who will also miss this fixture, but they were largely dominant on Thursday evening as the front three of Kyogo Furuhashi, Jota and Liel Abada ran riot and each ended up on the scoreboard.

Celtic have now won six of seven unbeaten games in all competitions, scoring at least twice in each victory, as there appears little concern over their attacking threat.

A subdued performance hosting Livingston last weekend ended in a goalless stalemate, but they remain the Premiership’s top scorers this term, despite Rangers’ 6-1 triumph at Motherwell last time out.

By contrast, only S.t Johnstone (eight goals) have netted fewer than Dundee’s output of nine this season, while they’ve also conceded the most in total, albeit with rock-bottom Ross County shipping more goals per game.

The Dees aren’t completely without a threat in the final third having netted in four of their past five games, though the exception came in their last home match where they were thumped 5-0 by lowly Ross County.

Celtic To Win To Nil

A narrow victory away at St. Mirren last weekend has put Dundee on a better footing, though James McPake’s side are still just W3-D4-L7 in all competitions since late July.

They failed to score in all but one of those defeats, including a 6-0 loss when they last encountered Celtic at Parkhead in August, adding to a miserable string of results in the head-to-heads between these two.

Dundee have failed to score against Celtic in eight meetings since 2017/18 now, losing seven of these games, with the Hoops racking up 22 goals across these matches. They’ve also netted just once in five encounters with Rangers since the start of 2018, losing four of these games as three of them ended 4-0.

With such a poor record at the sharp end up against the Old Firm duo, Dundee’s prospects of finding the net here rest more upon any sloppiness exhibited by their visitors, rather than through their own endeavour.

Despite the gung-ho approach of Ange Postecoglou’s side, the Hoops have still registered four clean sheets in six appearances across all competitions.

They’ve also shut their opponents out in five of their seven league wins this term, as they surprisingly hold the best defensive record in the division in spite of their occasional slip-ups at the back.

PREDICTION:

CELTIC TO WIN TO NIL
