DORTMUND V BARCELONA ODDS HERE!

Tough Group

Dortmund host Spanish champions Barcelona in an early but crucial game in what is a fascinating Champions League group, which also features Antonio Conte’s Inter and Slavia Prague.

The two outfits have only met twice before in their two-legged UEFA Super Cup final in 1998, in which Barcelona came out 3-1 winners on aggregate, although this won’t have any bearing on the outcome of this one.

Both sides have dropped points so far this season, but both will also be heading into this game full of confidence after emphatic victories in their last respective outings.

Recent Form

Lucien Favre’s men have picked up nine points from a possible 12 so far this season and are on an impressive run of seven wins from their last eight games in all competitions, though Barcelona will prove a much sterner test.

Ernesto Valverde has enjoyed a mixed start to the season in Spain, with two victories, a draw and a defeat from his opening four matches. Talisman Lionel Messi has been sidelined through injury so far this season, though with a squad of the calibre of Barca’s, this shouldn’t see as many points dropped as they have done so far.

Seven points from 12 is not a great return for the Catalan giants, and although they saw off rivals Valencia with relative ease thanks to the return of Luis Suarez and the emergence of 16-year-old Ansu Fati, they’re yet to win on the road this year and, with Dortmund’s form, there’s not much to separate the two.

Draw And Both Teams To Score

At this early stage of the competition and in such a crucial game, a point would not be disastrous for either side, and that’s the way we can see this one going, though given the Black & Yellows have seen both sides strike in eight of their 10 stalemates in Europe since 2014/15, we’ll combine it with that.

The attacking talent on display and each side’s respective form would imply goals galore at the Westfalenstadion this Tuesday.

Over 3.5 Goals

There has been a combined total of 37 goals in Dortmund and Barca’s eight league games this season and a total of 63 in the host’s last 15 including preseason at an average of 4.2 goals per game.

Although it is true that this number drops significantly in European competition, when they come up against the bigger outfits, goals tend to be the norm.

In their last 14 European games in knockouts and big group games against sides such as Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Spurs, Benfica and Monaco since 2016/17, 11 have seen more than two goals, and nine more than three, while with Barca’s 1-0 loss to Bilbao on the opening day the only game with fewer than four strikes so far in the league, the latter outcome looks an interesting proposition at the prices.

Paco Alcacer To Score Anytime

With Paco Alcacer, Marco Reus and Jadon Sancho netting 10 goals between them for Dortmund and Fati, Antoine Griezmann and Suarez with two apiece for Barca, there’s no shortage of goalscoring ability on display. However, all things considered it’s Alcacer who gets the nod at his price.

The former Barca man made his loan move permanent this season and has hit the ground running. With five goals to his name already, he’ll be relishing the opportunity to bag against his former club and having the creative talent of Reus, Sancho and Thorgan Hazard feeding him, he won’t be short of opportunities.

Over 3.5 Goals At 6/5

Paco Alcacer To Score Anytime At 6/4

0.5 Pts: Draw And Both Teams To Score At 14/5
