Carlo Ancelotti looks to have done an extremely good job for Everton in the transfer window, with new singings James Rodriquez, Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure all making impressive starts to the 2020/21 campaign as they hold an 100% win record.
That includes fixtures against both Spurs and West Brom in the league, while they also beat Salford City and Fleetwood Town by three goal margins in the League Cup, as they’ve now shorted to around 6/1 for a Premier League top four finish.
Another team to have hit the ground running is Palace. Roy Hodgson’s men grinded out a 1-0 victory hosting Southampton on the opening weekend and followed that up with a superb win at Old Trafford even with their current extensive injury list.
That ended a run of 11 games against the ‘Big Six’ without a win as the last time did manage that feat also came at Man Utd at the beginning of last term.
Everton To Beat Palace
Slightly worryingly for the hosts is they haven’t exactly hit the heights expected of them at Selhurst Park in recent seasons. Indeed, a record of just W10-D7-L13 from their 30 such matches here dating back to late December 2018.
Six of those nine wins prior to this season came against teams that were eventually relegated in that respective season, while the highest placed team they beat was Newcastle who finished 13th last term.
That makes for an abysmal 10 defeats from their 15 winless encounters here with the top half of the table over that period, netting just one first half goal across them.
The Toffees on the other hand, blitzed past the Baggies 5-2 at Goodison Park last time out, while they completely controlled the game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on the road prior to that.
In fact, excluding the ‘Big Six’ and last seasons’ Leicester, the visitors have an impressive five wins from their seven trips dating back to November last year, as that sole defeat came against a Wolves outfit that finished in seventh last season.

Interestingly, Everton haven’t scored a first half goal on the road against all team for over 270 minutes of football now, while the Eagles are notorious for not scoring in the opening half at home.
Indeed, they’ve now fired a blank in 21 of their last 27 first 45 minutes of football at this stadium, and therefore this fixture could well take a while to get going.
Palace’s 29% of the possession when hosting the Saints (who’re yet to earn a point this term) in their only game at Selhurst Park this term tells you all you need to know about the kind of game Hodgson will probably try and play, and we have to be getting behind Ancelotti’s exciting side to eventually take the honours.
