Sunrisers Hyderabad are looking to continue their formidable form to start the season, while Kings XI Punjab look to close the gap on their rivals
If history is anything to go by then the Sunrisers should be in for a relatively easy day at the office in this one, as their opponents haven’t recorded a league win against them in over four years. Get them to win comfortably here at 4/5.
KXIP, however, are starting to see some improvement in their play. Finishing bottom of the IPL for two years running in 2015 and ?16, they managed to finish mid table in 2017 and have had a very solid start to this year’s campaign, where they currently sit in third spot.
The Sunrisers already have much to boast about in the early stages of this season, including the fact they are unbeaten, have won all of their matches away from home and finally they have already managed to come out on top against the defending champions, Mumbai Indians.
With both sides not lacking in confidence, this match should be a great spectacle for viewers. And some of the key players to be looking out for include Karun Nair (batsman - KXIP), Manish Pandey (batsman - SRH), Sandeep Sharma (bowler - SRH) and Ravichandran Ashwin (bowler - KXIP).
Karun Nair
Nair has a proven record when it comes to performing on the big stage. Back in 2016, he scored a triple century against England in his first ever Test series, helping India to their highest ever innings total. He was just the third player in international cricket to convert his maiden century into a triple century, reaching 303 not out. In this year’s IPL, he is averaging a career-best 36.00 at a strike rate of 142.10
Manish Pandey
Pandey is a middle order batsman for the Sunrisers who boasts both control and flair depending on the situation of the game. The 28-year-old has bags of experience within the IPL, and he was the first person ever to score a century within the league back in 2009. He is surely due a big score, having managed just 15 runs in three innings so far, well short of his 49.50 average in the 2017 campaign.
Pandey is said to have a calm head and a good knack for game control, making him vitally important to his team’s success. Get him to be the top run scorer here at 9/2.
Sandeep Sharma
This will surely be an emotional game for the medium pacer, as he faces up against his former side. Sharma represented Kings XI Punjab for four years from 2013, before making the switch to Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of the 2018 season.
It’s no surprise that the Sunrisers camp were keen to secure his services after the youngster took three wickets in just 21 balls against them on his IPL debut. Sharma has some high-profile scalps on his resum?, having become the first bowler to claim the wickets of Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers in the same game in his final season with Kings.
Ravichandran Ashwin
Ashwin is captain of KXIP and one of the most prolific and economical bowlers in the world. After missing the 2017 season because of a sports hernia injury, he is fully recovered now. Ashwin is known for his variations, including an arm ball and the carrom ball (a delivery he is famous for)
As a World Cup winner in 2011 and ICC Cricketer of the Year in 2016, Ashwin is both experienced and a force to be reckoned with. Get the skipper to lead his team to victory here at 19/20.
