It’s a repeat of the season opener as arguably the biggest rivalry in the IPL is upon us again as CSK take on MI, although in more peculiar circumstances than usual.
The Super Kings currently prop up the table and will be thoroughly disappointed with how their season has panned out, likely prompting a change in personnel next season to rejuvenate an aging side.
They’ll have to make do with their current squad this time round though, and they’ll need a repeat of their opening day heroics otherwise they can more or less write this season off as they’ll be missing the play-offs for the first time in IPL history.
Their batting has unquestionably been their downfall as Faf du Plessis has been left on his own without much support. Their top order took a massive hit when Suresh Raina left before the tournament began, and they’ve not ever really recovered from that, and while MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja have put on good stands in some of their matches, it’s often not been quite enough and has resulted in seven defeats from their last nine.
Mumbai Indians To Win
The Indians currently sit in third but a win here should propel them back to the top of the standings owing to their superior run rate, while they’ve been unfortunate having only suffered one defeat so far without going to a super over which came in the opener against CSK.
While a lot of talk surrounds Mumbai’s batting lineup, their bowling attack brings a fantastic balance to the side with Jaspit Bumrah clawing back the game against Kings XI last time out.
They are the far superior side this year and it’s no surprise their favourites to go on and win the title again, so we’re backing them to get revenge on their rivals in this one.
