Recent Form
It’s the end of the road for CSK in this year’s IPL as they’re aging squad could repeat last year’s heroic final run, and it looks as though we’ll just have to enjoy this squad being together for a final couple of matches as we’d expect a completely new look side for next season.
The Super Kings have said they’ll be testing out their other squad members for the end of the season, and although their will be fringe players desperate to grab their opportunity by the horns, it can’t be good for team cohesion and it’ll be struggle if they want to achieve their first back-to-back victories of the campaign.
The Knight Riders’ season is far from over however, and although the playoff spots have now been taken out of their hands, they’re still firmly in the hunt with two games remaining, though you’d feel defeat here would put an end to that.
Eoin Morgan and Shubman Gill were bright sparks in a dull Kolkata batting display against KXIP, and without Dre Russell in the side they could really do with beefing up the batting order a bit this time round to offer a bit more cover for their under performing top-order.
Chennai Super Kings To Win
The conditions aren’t getting any easier for the batsmen as this Dubai pitch begins to slow up and boundaries get harder to come by.
We’d expect a low total of around 150-160 to be competitive and whoever’s bowling attack is more at it on the day to take the win.
CSK’s Deepak Chahar and Sam Curran were in strong wicket taking form against RCB last time out and if they chose to keep a similar bowling attack, we’d be inclined to go against he grain and back the Super Kings as underdogs against a very inconsistent Knight Riders side.
