Frank Lampard got his first win at Stamford Bridge as a manager when his side hosted League Two Grimsby on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup.
The Blues ran out 7-1 winners as they fielded four teenagers including now fit Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James who both registered a goal and shone throughout.
The Seagulls were in action themselves at home to fellow Premier League side Aston Villa, but were on the wrong end of a 3-1 loss as they crashed out of the cup.
Brighton On The Road
Brighton have looked a different side this season under Graham Potter and although the results haven’t exactly gone their way (W1-D3-L2), the performances have been encouraging for fans, especially away from home.
Their only defeat on the road this season was up against champions Man City, beating Watford and Bristol Rovers as well as being unlucky to only come away with a point from St. James’ Park.
However, although Chelsea aren’t on the same level as the Citizens, they are far superior to the other outfits and should prove to be too much for the visitors.

Having eased home nerves with a win midweek, although it was against Grimsby, the Blues will take confidence from the emphatic victory. As more and more of their first team players come back from injury, Lampard’s men look a serious force going forward, but defensive frailties will remain with the injuries to Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Emerson.
In fact, Chelsea haven’t managed a single clean sheet in their last 13 outings when including pre-season, conceding an average of two goals per game in that time, so with the aforementioned injuries, it would be a surprise if they kept Brighton out on Saturday, though they should have enough up top to outscore their opponents having recently put five past Wolves, two past Sheffield Utd and three past Norwich all of which are of a similar standard to the Seagulls.
Tammy Abraham To Score Anytime
With goals on the cards the goalscorer market opens up. Lampard has been known to tinker with his formation, and three at the back may be the best way to best maximise the ability of those players available, which would encourage attacking from wing backs and provide Tammy Abraham with plenty of opportunities.
The English youngster has seven goals from his last four outings, coming against those aforementioned sides who can all be considered to in the same bracket as Brighton this season, so expect him to add to his tally here.
