After three months of action we’re through to the final round of matches in the group stage of this year’s Champions League. Twelve clubs, including the two Manchester sides, have already qualified for the knockout stage of the competition.
The final round of matches kick off on Tuesday night with must win games for both Liverpool and Spurs. Here we take a look at the betting for both matches.
Liverpool vs. Napoli
While Liverpool remain unbeaten in domestic competitions, their form in Europe has been less impressive. Three defeats, all away from home, have put last year’s beaten finalists in real danger of crashing out at the first hurdle.
Napoli on the other hand have yet to taste defeat in Europe, with Carlo Ancelotti’s side currently sitting atop of Group C needing only a draw to get through to the last round of 16.
The Reds’ questionable record in Europe this season hasn’t affected their standing in the betting, with Liverpool the odds on favourite at 6-10 to win the match. Napoli are 4-1 to win at Anfield, while the draw, which will see the Italian side through, is available at 10-3.
Liverpool have goals in them, particularly at Anfield, and the fans will have high hopes that Mohammed Salah will be amongst the goals after his hat trick at Bournemouth this weekend. The Egyptian can be backed at 16-5 to score first and is odds-on at 17-20 to score any time.
Roberto Firmino and James Milner have had a taste for goal in Europe for the Reds this season and are available at 6-4 and 4-1 respectively to score anytime.
For Napoli, the goal threat comes from the front pairing Dries Mertens and Lorenzo Insigne. Both have three goals apiece in this year’s competition. Mertens is a 13-2 shot to score first, with Insigne available at 8-1 to be the first name on the scoresheet.
FC Barcelona vs. Tottenham Hotspur
Spurs endured a nightmare start to their Champions League campaign. Losses against Barcelona and Inter Milan, followed by a frustrating draw away to PSV Eindhoven put them in a precarious position to say the least.
However, dramatic wins against PSV and Inter Milan under the lights at Wembley have seen the north London team force their way into the second qualification position. They must now beat Barcelona at Camp Nou to make the next round.
Barcelona are a formidable force at home and that’s reflected in the betting with the Catalan giants the 21-20 odds-on favourites to win the game. Spurs are an 11-5 chance to win the game, while the draw is available at 14-5.
Spurs’ talismanic striker Harry Kane will be their main goal threat and the England man is a 15-4 bet to score first, while he’s as short as 21-20 to score anytime. Young midfielder Dele Ali is a big game player and odds of 7-2 to score any time represent good value, while in form winger Son Heung-min is available at 23-10 to score any time.
