The National Basketball Association is back at The O2 this week, for the league’s eighth regular-season game in London since 2011 – this time between Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers.
Both the Celtics and 76ers head into the game in tremendous form. The Celtics have won their last six, including victory against the Brooklyn Nets last time out. The 76ers, meanwhile, have won four on the bounce and most recently dispatched Detroit Pistons 114-78. Here we have all your Basketball betting odds covered.
This matchup is being billed as one of the best games to have ever been staged this side of the pond. The 76ers possess an immensely talented trio of Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Markelle Fultz – tipped to make Philadelphia a title-challenging side sooner rather than later. If the 76ers are one to watch, then the time is now for the Celtics. Boston sits atop the Eastern Conference, with their record standing at 33-10. Kyrie Irving won the title with Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016, and the Point Guard will be looking to lead the Celtics to a first NBA title in ten years with his new side.
The Celtics will be boosted by the return of Al Horford, the team’s star power forward who sat out the game against Minnesota Timberwolves to recover from a minor knee injury. Horford confirmed to reporters on Wednesday that he expects be involved at the O2. His Boston team was the first to reach the midway point in the schedule, playing up to four times a week over a gruelling stretch of games. The recent break has been a very welcome one, none more so than for Horford. The four-time NBA All-Star will be looking to return to the court on Thursday to continue the Celtics’ fine run of form.
We’re expecting a high-scoring game in London on Thursday evening, and the 76ers to score over 103.5 points at 10/11 looks like a sensible bet given that Philadelphia has exceeded that total in each of their last six games.
Fresh off a mini-break, however, the Celtics will be reenergised at the O2 and look set to claim the win at 8/11. Having already beaten Philly twice this season, we feel good about Boston making it three tonight – led by young head coach Brad Stevens – fast developing into one of the best across the NBA.
