These two sides face off for the third time in 11 days having drawn 1-1 in the initial FA Cup clash, before repeating that scoreline in the league on Friday, and they won’t be far off making that three from three on Tuesday night.
Draws have become a staple of the Welsh side of late, seeing stalemates in eight of their last 12 in all competitions, while only one of their last 18 such matches have been separated by more than a single strike, the exception being when they capitulated on their trip to Loftus Road, so it’s not difficult to call another close match in this one.
It’s hard to go against the grain here considering the hosts have lost just twice in their last 17 and are unbeaten in eight at this ground, drawing five of the last six, though their lack of ability to put games to bed is a worry.
Indeed, across their two recent games against Reading they’ve managed 33 shots to their opponent’s 12, as they often fail to capitalise on their dominance, and there’s nothing to suggest this will be different.

Reading are now winless in five so we’re not even close to tempted to touch them, despite their price.
Five of their past eight have also ended in draws, with the most recent four ending 1-1. In fact, goals haven’t been flowing in Reading’s games as each of the past seven have seen a maximum of two, so there looks to be value to coupling the result with that market.
Both sides are firmly planted in mid table and although the Berkshire based side wouldn’t consider themselves safe from relegation just yet, it would take a monumental tumble down the ladder for them to drop into League One.
Cardiff will still be hopeful of making the play-offs still, but a run in this competition would likely be the highlight of both their seasons, and they’d fancy their chances of that having avoided all of the ‘Big Six’ and Leicester with the fifth round draw.
With both teams fielding strong line-ups and with nothing to separate them in their recent meetings, the hard-fought draw looks to be the way to go here.
