CANADA V ALL BLACKS ODDS HERE!

Opening Results

New Zealand came through their first stern test of the tournament against the Springboks, and now look in good stead to ease into at least the semi-finals, although Japan’s shock victory over Ireland may well throw a spanner in the works, though Canada shouldn’t offer much in terms of resistance to the All Black’s progress.

Indeed, the Canucks have lost their last 23 meetings with Tier 1 nations, and if you exclude matches against the arguably weakest side, Italy, only two of 18 have come by fewer than 19-point margins, so we won’t even consider an upset here.

Canada Braced For A Tough 80 Min

While we’re on point margins, the head-to-head between these two is as dominant as you might expect. Canada’s best result against the All Blacks this century was a 64-13 defeat back in 2007, and after a heavy 48-7 defeat to Italy in their opening group game, we feel this could be a rather torrid 80 minutes for the North American outfit.

Steve Hansen can breathe again after they saw off South Africa in their opener, meaning their next fixtures will be Canada, Namibia and Italy before a meeting with either Ireland, Scotland or Japan, all of whom the Southern Hemisphere side should dispatch of, especially after the Irish showed numerous weaknesses when taking on the hosts.

Players Expected To Be Rested

Indeed, he’s opted to rest a few players in this one, as Barrett brothers Beauden, Scott and Jordie all start. Rieko Ioane is handed another chance on the wing to rediscover his form, while Sonny Bill Williams is included in the centres.

The winger has been out of favour as recent performances have not been up to All Black standards, but with 23 tries in as many test starts, he’ll be sure to cross the whitewash again this match.

Canada +65.5 Handicap

Even a weakened New Zealand team will undoubtedly prove too much for the opposition in this test, and with all three of their meetings this century seeing the Southern Hemisphere side win by 51, 62 and 64 points, we’re not even thinking twice about backing them to post a similar scoreline again.

Though with the latter the highest points margin the market doesn’t look appealing especially with New Zealand resting a large crop of players for the latter rounds, so we’re inclined to have a look at Canada on the handicap line.

The Kiwis have only managed to win by a margin greater than 64 points on four occasions from their 133 tests this decade, and while we do expect them to run riot, the experimental side Hansen has decided to field are not proven to have gelled enough as the market would suggest.

Moreover, the Canadians have only once lost by more than 64 points against Tier 1 sides since 2000 from their 41 such outings.

Canada +65.5 Handicap At 10/11
