After a poor start to the season, the Clarets are starting to turn things around a bit and have picked up 80% of their points in the last eight games, having picked up just two from their opening eight outings.
A crucial loss to the Magpies in the last game-week means that all three teams at the bottom of the league are now equal with ten points each.
The Hammers unsurprisingly put out a very weak team to face Dinamo Zagreb and because of their lack of experience in the starting eleven they ended up losing the game 1-0. Miroslav Orsic scored a goal reminiscent of Arthur Masuaku’s goal against Chelsea on the weekend, maybe justice from the footballing gods.
Despite beating the Blues in their previous game West Ham had been on a bad stretch of three games, a draw against Brighton and a loss versus Wolverhampton Wanderers may come back to haunt them at the end of the season as they look to get into the Champions League for the first time ever.
West Ham To Win And Both Teams To Score
Burnley have done better than can be expected in the last ten games the two sides have played against each other with a record of W4-D1-L5. West Ham managed to do the double over Burnley last year (1-0, 2-1) which brought the tide in their favour over this period.
Burnley scored more goals over the course of these games with 14 whilst the Hammers could only conjure up 11, which brings the total match goals to 2.5 over the last ten games.
It must be said that the West Ham team led by David Moyes is far different to any Hammers side we have seen in the last 10 years, they have come along way since losing to Burnley 3-0 back in the 17/18 season. To back this up, West Ham are higher in the table than they have been over the last 12 years after 15 games.
Burnley have really struggled defensively this season, the only two clean sheets they have managed both came in 0-0 draws against Norwich and Wolves.
The Clarets have a decent goal scoring record at home though, having netted three goals on two separate occasions but in the other four games at Turf Moor they only managed to find the net twice in total.
With some key injuries to West Ham’s defensive department in Angelo Ogbonna, Craig Dawson, Ryan Fredericks, Aaron Cresswell and Kurt Zouma, we could see some Burnley goals
Burnley seem to struggle when playing against teams in the top 10, having scored two goals in six games against these teams, though with such a build up of injuries we can’t see the Hammers taking a clean sheet home from the North.
