Recent Form

Since Burnley’s 3-1 win over Brentford, The Clarets have drawn six out of their last nine games whilst losing the other three. Although on paper this doesn’t seem great, draws against West Ham, Arsenal, Chelsea and Wolves are all results they wouldn’t have expected to get.

However, losing to relegation contenders Newcastle and Leeds will prove to be a real thorn in their side if they can’t win the games in hand they have gained through postponements of their games.

Manchester United suffered a cruel defeat on penalties to Middlesbrough, who currently fighting for a play-off place in the Championship (7th). Jadon Sancho snatched his first goal at Old Trafford to get them off to a 1-0 lead.

Game management has been a big issue for Ralf Rangnick since his appointment, this was proved again by keeping the same mentality despite being up a goal to the good.

A plethora of missed chances has also been a bane of Ralf Rangnicks time at Manchester United, with the two most senior players in Cristiano Ronaldo missing a penalty and Bruno Fernandes who missed an open goal in the FA Cup tie.

United To Win By A Two Goal Margin

Despite receiving a lot of criticism in the few months that Rangnick has had the job, the results have been pretty good all things considered, the only loss he has incurred in the PL was against Wolverhampton Wanderers when they lost 1-0 at Old Trafford, this means his PL record is W6-D2-L1.

Although, during these nine games they have played Burnley (W), Norwich (W), Newcastle (D) and Brentford (W) which isn’t exactly the hardest run of games they could have.

Burnley have averaged a point from every home game this season (eight from eight), whereas Manchester United have the same record in home games as they do away games (19 points from 11 games).

Burnley’s only home win came against Brentford (3-1) and have drawn 62% of their home games this season which compared to the league average of 27% is not great for Burnley fans considering they have only played three games against top 10 opponents at home.

Burnley are bottom of the league and despite that, they haven’t lost by a margin of more than two goals which does show their strength as a defensive unit. The Clarets have lost by a margin of two in six out of their nine losses, the other three were all lost by a one-goal margin.

PREDICTION:

MAN UNITED TO WIN BY A TWO GOAL MARGIN
