The Eagles may have lost four of five winless games heading into this fixture, but considering the defeats came against each of the current top four, while the draw was away to Arsenal, there’s no reason for panic to set in.
They made a strong start to the campaign initially, hence their mid-table position, and with the exception of Spurs back in September, no team has put more than two goals past them.
Burnley will look to test that resolve having won 3-0 in consecutive matches versus West Ham and Watford. However, those sides are in the bottom four of the table and have conceded 23 and 26 goals across their 13 matches respectively.
Given Southampton (who hold the worst defensive record in the division) are the only other team Burnley have scored more than two goals against this term, we couldn’t see Sean Dyche’s charges putting their visitors to the sword.
Both sides will feel confident of their chances of getting something from this game. Excluding the ‘Big Six’, Burnley have won to nil in all four outings at Turf Moor this season as they’ve scored nine times, though it should be noted all four of those teams sit in the bottom five of the table.
When also ignoring those big clubs, the Eagles have won five of their last six on their travels stretching back into last season. Roy Hodgson’s side also did the double over Burnley last term, so there’s not an awful lot to split these two outfits.

Although this game should be settled at the margins, Palace shouldn’t expect to keep a clean sheet having done so against just three of their 13 opponents this season.
Each of those shutouts came at Selhurst Park, while the opposition wasn’t of the highest standard as they faced a struggling Everton side on the opening day, as well as promoted duo Aston Villa and Norwich.
Burnley haven’t been at their best defensively this season either. They may have kept five cleans sheets, but each of those came against teams below the Eagles in the table.
Excluding their results against the current bottom six, five of their seven outings this season have seen both teams find the net, as one of the exceptions came when Liverpool registered a clean sheet.
Given that both teams have scored in seven of Palace’s last 10 on the road when excluding the ‘Big Six’, against whom they’ve struggled to find a route through to goal, we can see this one going the same way and they may well cancel each other out.
