Recent Form

Brighton have enjoyed an excellent start to the season and find themselves up in fourth place, four points adrift of leaders Chelsea and just two shy of Man City.

They’re W6-D3-L1 in all competitions so far, with the defeat coming to Everton, though they’ve slowed down a little in their past few outings as they’ve drawn successive outings against Crystal Palace, Arsenal and Norwich.

Danny Welbeck and Steven Alzate look set to miss out for the hosts, though Adam Webster and Yves Bissouma could return here in what would be a massive boost for Graham Potter.

Although generally a more attacking outfit these days under Graham Potter, Brighton have been involved in a lot of low-scoring affairs this term, with eight of their past nine matches in all competitions featuring fewer than three goals. However, it’s worth noting that the best sides they’ve faced on paper so far have been Everton, Leicester and Arsenal, as this will be their first encounter with a genuine title challenger.

Since their promotion to the Premier League, Brighton have lost eight of nine clashes with City, though fared much better last term as they only went down 1-0 at the Etihad and beat them 3-2 at the Amex.

That most recent clash saw them score more goals against Pep’s men than the other eight games combined, though having a limited output of late as they’ve scored just once in their last three games, might find it tough to carve out opportunities here.

Man City To Win To Nil

Indeed, Man City hold the joint-best defensive record in the Premier League this season alongside Chelsea.

Following defeats to Leicester in the Community Shield and then on the opening day to Tottenham, the visitors have gone W8-D2-L1 as only Southampton and Liverpool have taken points from them domestically, while PSG got the better of them in Europe.

In the league alone, they’ve kept six clean sheets from their last seven games, as only Liverpool were able to land a blow.

Pep Guardiola will undoubtedly mix his starting eleven up having travelled to face Club Brugge in Belgium on Tuesday.

Ferran Torres and youngster Liam Delap are his only absentees, but although Gabriel Jesus is back available, he may consider leaving Phil Foden in the false nine position having excelled midweek, while Jesus has typically lined up on the right-hand side in attack this term.

Although Guardiola has plenty of forward options, his side aren’t as prolific at the sharp end away from home.

They’ve scored more than twice in just one of their past nine league trips, against a defensively suspect Newcastle, while eight of their past 11 on the road have seen a maximum of three goals.

PREDICTION:

MAN CITY TO WIN TO NIL
