The Reds haven’t been at their scintillating best for a while now, going W4-D1-L5 now across all competitions when including extra time.
In fairness, four of those defeats came against European heavyweights Atletico Madrid (twice), Chelsea and Man City, while a 3-0 defeat to Watford was their only truly shocking result.
Brighton’s 1-0 victory over Norwich at the weekend has put some much-needed breathing space between themselves and the drop zone.
That’s now eight points from five games for the Seagulls, which is an extremely good showing considering they’ve played Wolves, Leicester, Man Utd and Arsenal during that time, so they could give Liverpool some problems at the Amex.
Despite some upturn in results for the hosts, goals have hardly been flowing freely. They’ve plundered just three in total from their last six, with six of their past eight featuring a maximum of two strikes.
Although Liverpool have slightly taken their foot off the gas, they’ve still kept three clean sheets in four since the restart, with the exception coming away at Man City after a few days of title celebrations, so we wouldn’t expect a similar outcome here on the south coast.
Jurgen Klopp’s men haven’t been blowing sides away and were, in all truth, relatively poor when hosting Aston Villa at the weekend with the scores still tied heading into the last 20 minutes of the match.
They also struggled past bottom-six outfits Bournemouth, West Ham and Norwich just prior to the break, with each victory coming by a single goal.
Liverpool Multibet (1-0, 2-0, 2-1 win)
Liverpool’s standout performance of late came against an Eagles side that were edging into European contention at the time.
However, since that 4-0 demolition the Reds have had the title confirmed, while Crystal Palace have proved that wasn’t a blip in the pan with defeats to nil against Burnley and Leicester.
With Brighton not yet safe, we’d expect another tight game and the multibet looks to hold some value.
18 of Liverpool’s 29 victories this year have come by 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1 scorelines, including nine of their last 12.
Given Brighton have managed to keep scorelines much lower in the latter part of the season, the multibet very much fits their recent narrative.
Sadio Mane To Score Anytime
On the players front, we can’t look past Sadio Mane to get on the scoresheet here. He’s found the net in each of their past five victories, all coming against bottom-half sides like Brighton.
Prior to Monday night’s clash between Spurs and Everton, 11 of his 16 goals this year have come against current bottom-half sides, though with 11 also coming on home turf at Anfield, we’ll opt for just the half point on the Senegal international.
