A huge sigh of relief went around Goodison Park following Everton’s victory over West Ham last weekend, ending a run of four straight defeats. With that, they also climbed out of the relegation zone and are now in fact level on points with Man Utd down in 15th place.
One place behind that though is this Brighton outfit and so this game will be billed as a crucial six point, even if they don’t both end up in the lower extremities of the table come the end of the season.
The Seagulls are struggling themselves too, with their two victories this season coming against out of touch Watford and Spurs outfits and so it’s hard to see them taking the full three points given that run of form. Indeed, Brighton in years gone by have been known for their relentlessness on home turf as they lost just one of their opening 19 fixtures at Amex Stadium to sides outside the ‘Big Six’ since they were promoted for the start of 2017/18 season.
However, that record has since derailed spectacularly, as they’ve gone W1-D4-L5 from their 10 such fixtures since, with that sole victory over a dismal Huddersfield outfit, while that includes three winless outings under Graham Potter this campaign hosting all of West Ham (1-1), Southampton (0-2) and Burnley (1-1).
The Toffees are hardly a side to fear on the road though, as they’ve won just four of their 19 trips over the last 12 months, losing 11 of them and each of their last three, as two of their victories came over the relegated Terriers and Bluebirds, whilst another was against Sean Dyche’s struggling Clarets side down in 18th at the time.
Fortunately for them, the Seagulls are hardly going to be ruthless given that mediocre home form, although they have shown an upturn in performances in recent times with a 3-0 win here against Spurs at the start of the month followed by an early lead at Aston Villa before Aaron Mooy was sent off in the 35th minute, as they eventually succumbed to a 2-1 defeat.

Only twice this season has Marco Silva’s charges netted more than a single strike from their nine outings, both of which came at Goodison Park and so we’re hardly expecting fireworks from their forwards this weekend. Moreover, six of those saw fewer than three strikes, including three of four on the road.
Brighton, meanwhile, have seen just the two strikes in three of their four games here this term and the ‘Unders’ certainly looks worth getting behind in this, especially since three of their four head-to-heads since the hosts’ promotion to the Premier League have seen exactly that, including both here.
We’ll also have a little flutter on the stalemate given their respective home and away forms, with neither side possessing the credentials to properly run away with the game.
