ENGLAND, NEW ZEALAND, WALES AND SOUTH AFRICA ALL TO WIN AT 2/1 HERE!

Recent Form

Japan have exceeded all expectation hosting this World Cup, much to the delight of the home support.

The Cherry Blossoms have won four from four in a group they weren’t expected to progress from, dispatching Ireland and Scotland en route to a first World Cup Quarter Final in their country’s history.

However, those celebrations will need to be short lived as they prepare themselves for by far their toughest task yet against South Africa.

The hosts’ dramatic victory over the Scots in the Pool A decider means they have now won eight of their last nine matches which includes victories over Scotland, Fiji and Ireland, all top 10 sides at the time of playing, so they’ve more than proved their worth.

However, that sole defeat came against their quarter-final opponents South Africa in a 41-7 drubbing in the World Cup warm-ups, so we envisage Japan’s remarkable home campaign to come to an end here.

Indeed, the Springboks have been merciless in their pursuit of a third William Webb Ellis Cup since their opening round defeat to the All Blacks, winning their remaining three pool games by a minimum of 46 points, and were even 47-0 up against Canada at the half way point in their last outing, so they’re taking no prisoners as they bid to become the first side to win a World Cup having lost a match.

Rassie Erasmus will be licking his lips at the potential route to the final his side have, with a Semi-Final clash with either Wales or France, both of whom have been far from convincing this tournament, but the Boks coach will know better than to look past the next fixture, and we expect them to make the rest of the contenders sit up and take note.

South Africa -14 Points Handicap

Jamie Joseph’s men technically aren’t a Tier 1 nation, though warrant more respect than any other Tier 2 side as they currently sit seventh in the World Rankings ahead of four Tier 1 outfits.

When looking at South Africa’s results against nations of Japan’s calibre (Ranked 7th - 12th) they’ve won 14 of the last 15 meetings, with their sole defeat coming at the hands of Argentina back in August last year when they were struggling for form.

Nine of these 14 such victories came by a margin greater than the 14-point handicap, and with a convincing 34-point demolition job of a full-strength Japanese side in Kamagaya a little over a month ago, we can see the Boks covering the handicap again this time round.

South Africa -14 Points Handicap At 10/11
