These two sides have been going in opposite directions in recent months, with Blackburn losing four of their last six winless outings as they dropped from 11th to 17th in the table, while Sheffield Wednesday have won half their last eight fixtures, losing only once, as they climbed seven places to 5th.
The Rovers will be kicking themselves having gone in at the break 2-0 up against Preston last time out only to eventually lose 3-2, while prior to that they were outplayed by Birmingham in a 1-0 loss.
The most disappointing results though for Tony Mowbray will be their recent home form, as they’re now winless in their last three at Ewood Park. Indeed, they may have picked up a point against Forest, but losing to Luton and drawing with Huddersfield having gone a goal up, both of whom were sitting in 21st in the table at the time of playing, is somewhat disappointing.
Sheffield Wednesday To Win
No team has bettered Wednesday’s defensive record on home turf this term, while only three teams have beaten them in that department on the road alone (West Brom, Leeds & Swansea).
Each of their three away victories this season have come over Reading, the Terriers and Boro, all of which currently reside in the bottom-five of the Championship table.
However, the Riversiders only sit two points ahead of Huddersfield and three ahead of both Middlesbrough and Reading, though the latter has a game in hand, as together they form part of eight clubs in danger of being left behind by the rest of the league.
Indeed, the Owls against such sides this season have been very impressive, winning all seven of their such outings, five of which have been to nil and four by two or more goals.
By contrast, Blackburn have lost six of their seven winless outings against the current top-half of the table this term, including defeats in each of their last three.
With that in mind we fancy backing the visitors to overturn them at a fairly big price given the relative form of the two sides.
In fact, when considering Wednesday have won four of the five fixtures between the two teams since 2016, they look great value.
