REAL MADRID, ATLETICO MADRID AND ATALANTA ALL TO WIN MAX BET £10
Recent Form
Although this is a dead rubber game with Bayern having already topped the group and Spurs having secured second place, the visitors will be keen to banish the memory of the 7-2 annihilation they suffered in the reverse fixture.
Both teams have made a switch in the dugout since then, though while Spurs have won four of five games under Jose Mourinho, Hansi Flick has some doubters to convince with Bayern losing 2-1 in their past two fixtures against both Leverkusen and Gladbach.
We’re not quite so sure then that the Bavarian giants deserve to start as such short-priced favourites.
However, they’re undoubtedly devoid of troubles at the sharp end, scoring in each of their past 21 matches in all competitions and two or more in 16 of these.
Mourinho’s Spurs may have registered a first clean sheet hosting Burnley at the weekend, but they conceded at least twice in their other four games under new management and a trip to the Allianz Arena isn’t likely to yield another shutout.
Four of the last five encounters between Bayern and English sides have featured at least four goals, averaging exactly five per game.
Given there’s no need for either coach to show caution in their tactics with their respective group standings already decided, we see no reason for this match to deviate from that path.
Over 3.5 Goals
High-scoring games are bread and butter stuff for Bayern, who have seen a minimum of four strikes in over half of their 22 matches in all competitions this season, including nine of the past 15 as all but one of them saw at least three goals.
Each of Mourinho’s five games at the helm have breached that lower threshold, with four of them witnessing five or more, while all five of Spurs’ games in this tournament during the current campaign have seen a minimum of four goals.
In fact, these two teams have the highest outputs in the Champion League across the groups this season, so we’re strapped in for another goals bonanza.
The likelihood of that occurring is raised by injuries Bayern have been enduring at the back, with centre-back options Niklas Sule and Lucas Hernandez unavailable, while Jerome Boateng is unlikely to be risked.
The hosts will have to make do with a pairing of the ageing Javi Martinez and utility man David Alaba, meaning rookie winger Alphonso Davies (who can be suspect defensively) will have to fill in at left-back again.
