Leeds endured a couple of poor results prior to the international break as first they were dumped out of the League Cup on penalties by Stoke, before Swansea sealed a 1-0 victory via veteran Wayne Routledge in the 90th minute at Elland Road.
However, the Swans have been the standout team in the Championship with five wins from six unbeaten games, so Marcelo Bielsa will be confident of returning to winning ways at struggling Barnsley.
The promoted outfit were impressive on the opening day as they held on to an early lead to triumph 1-0 over Fulham, but since then things have gone pear shaped as they’ve lost four of six winless matches across all competitions, including a 3-0 defeat to Carlisle (who are currently 19th in League Two) during cup action.
They’ve conceded an average of two goals per game over this winless streak and Leeds certainly possess the attacking tools to cause some damage.

Indeed, the visitors’ defeat to Swansea was the first time where they’ve failed to score this season, with summer signings Edward Nketiah and Helder Costa both off the mark for them.
The former in particular has been a revelation and impressed for parent club Arsenal during pre-season, while since rocking up in Yorkshire he’s scored three times from 226 minutes of action across all competitions (75 minutes per goal).
He’s yet to start a league game however and will likely be utilized from the bench once more, as Patrick Bamford is established as first choice striker and has already scored four league goals, with these all coming on the road as he’s yet to fail in finding the net away from home.
Leeds -1 Handicap
Three of Leeds’ four league wins this term have come by at least two goals, as did their cup win over Salford City, while each of those four aforementioned defeats Barnsley have suffered have also come by the same margin or greater.
Although eight of Leeds’ last 10 league wins have been without conceding, we’d prefer to back them on the handicap than to win to nil as they can on occasion be vulnerable on the counter, with Barnsley duo Mallik Wilks and Mamadou Thiam capable of hurting them via that route.
Daniel Stendel should have central midfield pair Alex Mowatt and Cameron McGeehan available after the duo have had the international break to recuperate from injuries.
They managed 22 goals and assists combined between them in League One last term, though having started four and five of Barnsley’s six league games so far respectively, we don’t think they’ll prove to be game changers.
