Put simply, Xavi and Andres Iniesta were always going to be hard to replace in the long term and while the direct approach forged under Luis Enrique enabled them to often bypass the midfield and get it to their quick and deadly attackers, they’re now reliant upon moments of brilliance rather than any team orientated goals as in the past.
However, that brilliance has often come via the genius that is Leo Messi, who is a major doubt along with some of his other teammates.

Inter have a clean bill of health, whereas Barca will be hampered by various absentees. In defence, Jordi Alba is a major doubt while Samuel Umtiti is definitely out.
Further forwards Ousmane Dembele and young hotshot Ansu Fati are concerns too. Antoine Griezmann has struggled to adapt to Barca’s methods so far, so this is one of the bet opportunities to take the Catalans on at the Nou Camp in recent times.
