Norwich are hanging on in there by virtue of other teams down at the bottom also struggling for points.
They were tenacious in defeat during extra time hosting Man Utd in the FA Cup this weekend, boosted by a man of the match performance by impressive youngster Todd Cantwell, though the 22-year-old’s strike was their first goal bound effort in four outings as they’ve lost to nil in each of their past three in the league.
Despite that return in front of goal, there’s good reason to think they can register on the board here. The Gunners have hardly been watertight at the back, to the point where they’ve handed David Luiz a new contract following his calamitous effort recently against Man City.
The Brazilian misses out here through injury in any case, though that creates a headache for Mikel Arteta with fellow centre-backs Calum Chambers and loan signing Pablo Mari sidelined too, leaving the much-maligned pair of Sokratis and Shkodran Mustafi to compete for a place alongside the more reliable Rob Holding.
Arsenal have further injury issues with Bernd Leno, Cedric Soares, Gabriel Martinelli, Lucas Torreira and Mesut Ozil all unavailable too.
However, none of those have been key players for the Gunners of late and given Emiliano Martinez is seemingly a capable deputy between the sticks, as well as having the likes of Pepe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang within the ranks, they shouldn’t need the creativity of Ozil to break down the Canaries.
That’s especially the case as Norwich’s first choice centre-back pairing of Christoph Zimmermann and captain Grant Hanley remain sidelined.
In fact, the former has started 15 of their 31 matches this season, with Daniel Farke’s men shipping 45% more goals in his absence.
Both Teams To Score
Norwich have conceded at least twice in nine of 15 road trips this term. They lost 11 of these games, including five of the past six, but while it’s difficult to see them getting any points from this game, they’ll still fancy their chances of scoring at some stage.
In fact, they’ve found the net in in 12 of 15 clashes with the ‘Big Six’, Leicester or Wolves across all competitions this season, including a 2-2 stalemate with Arsenal earlier in the campaign.
Since a 1-0 win against low-scorers Newcastle on the opening day of the season, Arsenal have registered just seven clean sheets from 30 league appearances, including just two from nine encounters with bottom-six sides.
Although we expect the hosts to come out on top, we’d leave them alone at the prices and stick with both teams to score.
