Recent Form

Mikel Arteta’s first home game isn’t an easy one and sees his Arsenal side take on a Chelsea team that have generally performed better away from Stamford Bridge this term.

The Blues would be third in a table based solely on away results, though across all competitions they’ve only won once in four trips as they’ve lost to Man City and Everton, as well as drawing with Valencia.

Arsenal will take encouragement from a record of two victories in four unbeaten matches hosting Chelsea since 2016/17 across all competitions.

Over 3.5 Goals

This fixture has quite often produced entertainment as seven of 10 head-to-heads at all venues since the start of 2017 have seen both sides find the net, with two of the three meetings last term five-goal thrillers.

The both teams to score market is understandably at a short price given that it’s occurred in nine of Chelsea’s 11 away matches in all tournaments dating back to late August, including five of the last six.

However, there may be better value to be had backing ‘overs’ and in fact, 11 of the Blues 13 games in away from Stamford Bridge have featured at least three goals, while eight witnessed a minimum of four strikes.

Prior to Boxing Day, both teams have also scored in 11 of Arsenal’s last 14 matches in all competitions, as half of these games saw at least four goals.

At the Emirates alone seven of 12 fixtures since September have breached that threshold for output, as the Gunners have shipped at least two goals in six of the last seven there.

Arteta will need multiple transfer windows in order to bring in players of sufficient defensive quality, and no amount of new manager bounce is going to teach the likes of David Luiz, Sokratis and Shkodran Mustafi to defend.

Over 3.5 Goals At 13/10
