Can AJ remain on track for a blockbuster Fury showdown with victory over the credible threat of Uysk?

AJ Can't Afford A Slip-Up

It will be AJ’s first return to the ring since December, when he successfully put together a patient ninth-round stoppage against Kubrat Pulev in front of a limited 1,000 fans due to Covid-19.

That tussle came after he retained his titles from Andy Ruiz Jr five months prior and the British boxer will want to avoid any slip-ups to stay on track for his huge double-header against Tyson Fury.

Uysk A Credible Threat

The 34-year-old, Usyk, is a former undisputed cruiserweight champion of the world made the step up to heavyweight after beating Tony Bellew in 2018, beating both Chazz Witherspoon and Derek Chisora in his only fights at this level.

That spells danger for Joshua against an opponent who will likely be off the back foot in the opening few rounds before going after him.

The Ukrainian is 18-0 in his career and seems to be improving in the ring like a fine wine – getting better with every pro fight.

Like AJ, Usyk also won a gold medal at the 2012 Olympics and it is perhaps a question as to whether he can pack enough power in the top division having stepped up just two years ago.

AJ By Decision Or Technical Decision

The Brit has earned a reputation for being a knockout artist, ending 22 of his 24 victories inside the distance, but this could be a much sterner test than the majority of those previous fights.

The home fans will be hoping Joshua doesn’t look beyond his fight on Saturday in North London and gets the job done in order to prove he’s the best in the business.

No doubt, he’ll give the utmost respect to his opponent given he’s never been beaten, and for us, this looks like it could go all the way against one of the stronger boxers he’s faced in his career.

PREDICTION:

ANTHONY JOSHUA BY DECISION OR TECHNICAL DECISION
