Back to back 4-1 defeats to Sparta Prague have knocked Celtic out of this tournament and things went from bad to worse on Sunday on the domestic front.
The pressure is well and truly on for Neil Lennon after a 2-0 defeat hosting Ross County in the League Cup, having won every domestic trophy since 2017, even if this encounter has no bearing on their 10 in a row aspirations.
Alarm bells are ringing and despite the two games in hand over Rangers in the league, the 11-point gap already looks daunting at this stage.
They’ve produced just two wins in 10 across all competitions, conceding at least twice in eight of them as Lennon hasn’t been able to find the right formula at the back.
Without a solid rearguard to rely upon, failure to score last time out is particularly worrying. However, that was just the second time in 23 matches this season where the Hoops have drawn a blank.

Milan have only kept one clean sheet in their last nine in Europe, even conceding twice at home to Luxembourg outfit F91 Dudelange, while in all competitions they’ve shut out their opponents just twice in 10 outings.
Milan aren’t in quite the same run of form as when these two last met, but there’s certainly been no major downslide as they still lead Serie A by five points after just nine games.
Only sixth and seventh-placed outfits Roma and Hellas Verona have held them to stalemates this season domestically, with their recent disappoints against group leaders Lille the only blemish on a fantastic campaign so far.
With the group delicately poised, Stefano Pioli will resist the chance to be wringing the changes too much. Veteran star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic misses out, as does Rafael Leao, but Ismael Bennacer and Samu Castillejo are expected back for this clash.
The Rossoneri have found still found goals when the Big Swede has been absent this season, and with more riding on it for them, we’d expect them to take advantage of Celtic while they’re down and out.
Both Teams To Score
Celtic have now lost five of their last seven winless games in Europe from the group stages onwards. The defence has been brutally exposed as they conceded at least twice in all but one of these, while four of their last five have finished 3-1 or 4-1.
They have at least been scoring some goals as both teams have scored in each of the last six, but poor starts have killed them as they’ve trailed at the break in three of the past four outings in this competition.
